The Story:
Festoons became popular in the Neoclassical period and have remained in favor ever since. Queen Elizabeth II famously wore a diamond festoon necklace when she ascended to the throne. This one is from the early 1900s, and while it's not as grand as QEIIs diamonds, it is lovely in its own right. Delicate swags of high carat chain, punctuated by fiery opals with flecks of blue, green, and purple.
The Details:
Festoon chains test as 18k, rear chain tests as 14k. Graduated swags of chain with an opal drop in the center of each, 5 in total.
Length: 38cm
Weight: 7.8 grams
Condition: Very good antique condition.
