The Story: Swallows were often given as sweetheart gifts by sailors to their loved ones as a symbol of faithfulness and homecoming, because swallows were said to lead ships back to shore. Set with seed pearls and tiny ruby eyes in gold, these two are not identical and flying in different directions - part of their charm, if you ask me.
The Details: Brooch conversion earrings with wire hook fittings. Seed pearls are well-matched with a silvery hue. Length: Birds are approximately 2.25cm from beak to tip of tail, or end of wing. Weight: 4.4 grams Condition: Conversion piece. Two seed pearls are replacements. Some cracks to nacre of pearls, invisible to unaided eye. Ruby cabochons in good condition.
